Well, not directly affecting the NAS support issue, but actually ecasound
does run on Solaris. The magic link here is 4Front technologies (
http://www.opensound.com ), which provides OSS compatible soundcard
drivers for at least Solaris, FreeBSD, AIX, UnixWare, VxWorks, etc ... see

... so at least in theory, ecasound should work on all these platforms!
And yup, the drivers cost money, but hey, Solaris et al ain't that cheap
either. ;) And 4Front is a good company to support. Even though the focus
of linux soundcard driver development is slowly moving toward ALSA,
4Front's role in putting linux audio forward shouldn't be forgotten.
