I had a simmilar problem recently. My case was that ecasound didn't activate
midi input when called with a .ecs script and interactive mode.Solution was
to put the command line option to specify the midi input device as the first
thing in the .ecs script(it's own line) . BTW if you want alsa seq
connectivity try the virtual midi device (raw midi <-> seq), you must
recompile/reinstall alsa drivers on your box though.
