You try to open a wav file as a chainsetup.
Are you familiar with Ecasound?
Think of Visecas as a chainsetup editor.
It reads (file->open) and writes (file->save (as)) chainsetup files
(*.ecs).
Try the following instead:
In-/Outputs->Add
Go to the 'File' page
Find your wave file
Press 'Add as Input'
Go to 'Others'
Select OSS Device and your common dsp device (/dev/dsp)
Close the dialog
Select your new In- and your new Output in the 'In-/Outputs' list
Select the default chain in the 'Chains' list
Press the 'Attach' button
Your chainsetup should be valid now
Press the 'Connect' button
Press the 'Play' button
