I've just written EDIs for these two issues and submitted them to CVS:
(edi-27): NetECI - network interface for controlling ecasound operation.

(edi-28): Extending the EIAM command set to allow writing standalone ECI
implementations.

These items are related, but not quite the same. The aim of NetECI is to
allow multiple indepedent clients to access the same ecasound session.
SA-ECI on the other hand tries to make ECI easier to use for both
developers and users.
Anyone interested in writing a standalone C/python/perl/php/tcl ECI
implementation? Part of the job should be quite straightforward, but there
are few tricky issues. The biggest problem is parsing the return values. I
think we need to add new EIAM commands, or alternatively, change the
ecasound output format, to make parsing possible. Good ideas and proposals
are very welcome!
