Once upon a Wed, Sep 26 2001, Kai Vehmanen hit keys in the following order:

aha! "alsa,default" was the hint i needed to get ecasound work with the
latest alsa-drivers for me. i tried to do specify "alsahw,default" instantly,
but to my disappointment it was interpreted as "alsahw,0,0,0" which i knew
didn't work. just wondering if it's something i didn't do right. the output
of aio-register indicates that it should work, but it doesn't... i'm using
alsa-*-0.9.7

$ echo aio-register | ecasound -c |grep alsa
32. ^alsa$, handled by "ALSA named PCM device". (params: label,pcm_name)
33. ^alsa_06$, handled by "ALSA named PCM device". (params: label,pcm_name)
34. ^alsahw$, handled by "ALSA PCM device". (params: label,card,device,subdevice)
35. ^alsahw_06$, handled by "ALSA PCM device". (params: label,card,device,subdevice)
36. ^alsaplugin$, handled by "ALSA PCM device". (params: label,card,device,subdevice)
37. ^alsaplugin_06$, handled by "ALSA PCM device". (params: label,card,device,subdevice)

hmmm, just before sending this, i discovered i could specify "alsa,plughw" as
a device. i guess this is all i need for now, but i'm still curious if the
older alsahw,0,0,0 way should still work.
