It seems to be doing quite well. I have uploaded to unstable a version of ecasound labeled
1.9dev7.cvs20010428-1 (I think this is clear enough)

For the deb packages, you can find it in the Debian archives,
for example, http://http.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/e/ecasound/

Neither tree is currently available. Not much I can do, but wait until things settle down a bit. It is in a transition period now.
I tried to install libasound1-dev (the development library of ALSA) and it pulled in a mixture of 0.5 and 0.9 ;(
It should be fixed soon.
