Hi,

dabbled around with pyeca again, and came up with the following:

Could there be an iam command: 'cs-isvalid' ? To determine the validity
(connectability) of currently selected setup.

This could be useful in handling setups created by user (vs. generated)
in misc. apps. Ofcourse, one could try to connect the setup, fail and
determine that from the empty
last_string of 'cs-connected'.
I guess it would not go too deep (in connecting) before the first check
of setup validity in ecasound itself?
(not take too much time) The 'cs-isvalid' would be a shortcut to this
functionality.

The argument against is that the most natural way of using this kind of
command would be it having type boolean return value. This is pretty
useless to people using eiam-ui
directly, so it would litter the namespace.. a bit. ;)

Comments?
