This should interest most of you. Currently ecasound searches for
LADSPA plugins from '/usr/local/lib/ladspa' (configured in ~/.ecasoundrc).

Subject: [linux-audio-dev] LADSPA Update, New Project (CMT) & Help Requested

I've updated the LADSPA SDK a little. It's now on version 1.03. [Not to be confused with the LADSPA API itself which remains at version 1.] There is now some more online documentation at http://www.muse.demon.co.uk/ladspa.html, a bugfix to applyplugin, there are now ten example plugins (more than I'd intended) and the two example hosts have a few tweaks and now support the LADSPA_PATH environment variable.

I've also started a new project, the CMT (Computer Music Toolkit - bad name - any suggestions?). This is a C++ LADSPA plugin library under GPL. This is at an extremely early stage and so far contains about thirty plugins of varying usefulness and a nice simple infrastructure to make further coding straightforward. The motivation is that now we have hosts prepared to host LADSPA plugins, it's about time we started producing some decent plugins for them! The library can be seen at http://www.muse.demon.co.uk/cmt/index.html.

I was hoping people could help out on the following points:

(1) Are the developers out there who fancy WRITING PLUGINS or processing algorithms (or just porting them) but don't want the hassle of writing and publishing an independent plugin library? If so, additions to CMT are easy to make and would be warmly received. I'm hoping there will be concrete interest in this. There's plenty of scope: at the moment there's nothing more complex than a compressor in there. Perhaps I should set up a Source Forge account?

(2) I'd be interested to know which hosts are now supporting LADSPA and which hosts are planning to so that I can produce some 'road map' documentation for LADSPA.

((3) LADSPA needs better user and development documentation.)
