depends on the version of lame and whether it is able to keep up. Look at
top and see how much idle cpu you have. If lame is using over 90%, you
have nothing left, and if you don't have the mingo patches installed, you
should not do any disk i/o at all. If your update runs during one of
these recording sessions, you'll have drop-outs.
