Ecasound checks mp3 header info directly, so that's not a problem.
One of the mpg123 specialities is -k option, which is used to
rewind/forward mp3 files. Program path and additional options are
configured in ~ecasoundrc, but "-q -s -k" is hard-coded. Of course
you can always use named pipes... If some other player offers the
same functionality, let me know.
