one more option is to run ecamonitor in a another console. So:
[console 1]
sh> ecasound -c --daemon <options>
[console 2]
sh> ecamonitor
... the latter will show various status details including the transport
position and state.
Ecamonitor is "readonly", so in a bit different category than Nama and
TkEca.
PS ecamonitor is written in python and the sources are in
ecasound/ecatools/ecamonitor. It's around 200 lines of code,
so if you know some python, it's fairly easy to modify it
to your own needs..
