hmm, I spent some today trying to reproduce this locally, but so far
without success. I tried with both older ecasound (2.4.4) and the latest
2.6.0+pre snapshot, but no luck so far. With all setups I've tried so far,
processing finishes in finite time both with and without absolute paths
for the ewf files.

Could you possibly simplify the test case and see what is the minimal way
to trigger this bug? And contents of the ewf files would also be
interesting.
