[ecasound] How to do persistant recording.

Hello,

I'm currently recording 24/7, I'm doing it in 24 hour periods then
splitting it up into more managable raw files. This has been working
fine for me (actually too well, and thanks for that). My problem is at
the end of this 24 hour period I have a cronjob ready to setup for the
next 24-hour file. Problem here is this isn't true persistant
recording, I have to set it up to be one minute shy or I risk trying
to attach to a device that's already recording. I would overlap
recordings then edit later but it doesn't allow me to attach twice to
a recording device.

In a perfect world I would be able to send some kind of signal to it
(some kill signal?) and it would close the old filehandle, open a new
one, and continue the writing. Is there any way to accomplish this
with ecasound?

BTW my command line is:
ecasound_debug -r -i alsa,default -z:db,500000 -z:intbuf -t
$((60*1439)) -o /mnt/aux/Tmp/new_wavs/$(date +%F)/$(date
+%N)_recording.raw

Thanks!
