And just to be sure, have you checked that no cronjobs, remote logins, or
anything similar matches the the buffer overruns (10 times per 2h)...?
Also, I recommend...

- running the test without X-server (preferably not running at all)
- try with a different filesystem type if possible (in case
   the bug is in file system code)
