Allow me explain. I had gotten the January 15,
2004 updates from SuSE for 9.0; and gconf and
gcon2 knocked OUT my gnome. Then since the
default was the prior wm I could not get ANY
graphics. I deleted over 100 programs and
reinstalled the whole gui interface. I now boot
into CONSOLE mode ONLY.
As I told you before -- and I am happy to see
that you are sparing in your use of gnome
stuff -- I do not like gnome. I had exactly this
trouble six months ago when I updated gnome on
SuSE 8.2. I will NEVER again use gnome instead
of my always preferred kde. I know the folks
there think they are doing a good job. I DO NOT!!

As you can see the error is in ruby interface and not in
gda although that is what faulted, too in 'make'.
