Btw, what version of ecasound you've used with ecasetupedit?
On my setup it caused the ECI C parser to immediately overflow. :)
I've fixed this in CVS:

- fixed: increased the max message size in ECI-standalone;
         ecasetupedit-0.2.3 caused the parsing buffers to
         overflow

... but otherwise seems to work well with the standalone pyecasound
implementation (2.2.0-pre5/CVS).
