You have alsa 0.5.x installed or only have the 0.5.x plugin compiled but
are using the syntax for 0.9.x; try this:
ecasound -i:Parade02092002.wav -o:alsa,0,0

NOTE: I advise you to consider an upgrade to alsa 0.9.x as it's much
improved; I believe there are prepackaged versions of it already
available in Debian testing/unstable.
