I just committed a huge set of changes (~7000 line diff) to ecasound's
CVS-tree. Edi-18 is now implemented along lots and lots of code cleanup
work.

So far I've done the following tests...:

  - passes the test suite (CVS: sound/ecasound/testsuite)
  - works with ALSA 0.9 and JACK
  - works with ecamegapedal and ecawave (CVS versions)

Here's a summary of work related to edi-18:

Details:

- added: edi-18 implemented; engine samplerate is now
         set automatically - if object sample rates don't
         match, an error is printed
- added: ecasoundrc - 'default-audio-format'; same syntax
         as with the -f option; defaults to s16_le,2,44100,i
- removed: ecasoundrc - 'default-samplerate'
- removed: -sr option; not needed anymore
