Subject: [ecasound] automatic gain or leveller

Hi,
I recently integrated ecasound and LADSPA into a Linux streaming audio
engine I've been working on. Way cool!
I'm using compression and limiting, but what I really need is an auto
gain or leveller to adjust for songs that are not quite as "loud" as
most. Is there anything out there?
While I'm at it, has anyone written a multi-band compressor? Could I do
this by splitting the input, run it through separate pass band eq's and
compressors, and add them all back to the output? Would it stay
synched? Would I chew up all of my CPU time? :-)
Thanks!
George
