Hmm, from reading above, I see your project has many common points with my
project, heteca (written with python, ECI and gtk). It is currently in
pretty bad shape, though.

BTW, what version of gtk are you using?

I am thinking about installing the dev-version, so that when gtk reaches
2.0, I'd be there already. Though I'm not sure if the pygtk-bindings
would provide some level of compatibility between the version change.

What are your feelings of python? (or scripting-languages in general?)
I mean, it does provide some useful abstractions, faster prototyping,
[insert buzzword here], etc. They say: "use C for speed, python for
control" - don't know whether it's true, (have never done it myself)
but it might be.
