Yes, it's without question that double-buffering adds an extra layer to
processing, and thus consumes more CPU&memory. But in most cases reliable
performance is worth the extra resources.

Yes, true. On the other hand, I hope to fix any problems present in
ecasound's s32_le support. More people testins, easier it gets. Too bad I
don't have any highend sound-hw to test this myself...
