Two things come to my mind:
- For multitrack processing (and probably also for recording in general) it
is usually better to keep the buffer size quite small. I'd say your best
bet would be somewhere between 128 and 1024; the double-buffering system
should be left in charge for the matter of stable IO's.
- Try playing with -z:intbuf/nointbuf, it can make a lot of difference, at
least it does for me.
