Or if you want the old behaviour (the one with 0.5.x) you can use alsahw.
like: -i:alsahw,0,0

Actually you decide what it is because you are the one doing the pcm setup
and all in ~/.asoundrc.
For specs of asoundrc look in alsa-lib/doc/asoundrc.doc
