I posted a message about this a few months back, but never resolved the
issue & ended up doing a workaround instead. Now, I have an entire MP3
collection that's affected & I really need to come up with a solution as
soon as possible.

I have a whole library of files that play fine using mpg123, but not using
ecasound or ecaplay. Ecasound returns:

ERROR: [ECA-CHAINSETUP] : "Enabling chainsetup: AUDIOIO-MP3: Can't open
/audio/temp/10002.mp3 for reading." (the file *does* exist)

These files were all ripped using the Mac program SoundJam. They play fine
in all of my Windows apps as well as mpg123. The only abberation that I've
noted is that they use ID3v2 tags only, whereas I normally use ID3v1. The
tags read fine in the perl module MP3-Info.

I encountered the same problem with a file I downloaded from a file-sharing
service recently. It has both v1 & v2 tags.
