your quoting of the man page is nothing i haven't read
5 times over. i've tried both alsa,pcmname and
alsahw,c,d,sd as follows:

alsa,/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c
alsa,pcmC0D0c
alsahw,0,0,0

the last doesn't crap out, but doesn't record
anything. as i said before, the alsa utils (aplay,
etc) work just fine. and yes, my ecasound is compiled
with alsa support. am i just naming the pcm device
incorrectly?
