Audio files.

Vauguely... I'm really wondering about the possiblity of having realtime fx with multiple fx setups. The best way I can think of describing it is with the chain analogy. Bw GUI is correct.

Why is it that I can never find these programs that everyone is using?;-]

I hear ya.

last time I tried using ecasound for realtime fx, every time I added/adjusted a new setting the sound would die for about 50ms then come back in with the new setting applied.

This isn't quite realtime however I have used terminatorX and it can do real time so I'm not too worried about that wee problem dissapearing from ecasound over time.

What I'm concerned with is the possiblity of having multiple fx processors(think boxes) running and being able to add them to or remove them from the sound stream without causing dropouts.

I would eventually like to be able to add/remove them at any place in the stream, at any time I choose. At the same time I would also like to be able to start up whole new streams.

It does seem pretty utopian now but I have high hopes and ecasound seems to be the most likely app that could do this. However I would probably use the alsaplayer GUI. It's design just appeals to me! Think of it as a skin for ecasound.

This is where I see the true potential of live performance with computers. I don't think it can be done currently but, eyes to the stars eh?

Patrick.
