Hmm, this might be related to OSS triggering feature. Most apps using OSS
(/dev/dsp) don't use this feature, but ecasound always uses it (warns if
not supported). The basic idea is: without triggering, apps write to
/dev/dsp, and when there's enough data in the buffer, playback starts
automatically. Ecasound however, writes data to /dev/dsp, but playback
isn't started until ecasound explicitly issue a OSS trigger call. This is
used for synchronizing playback and recording. So, so, this could be a
problem specific to your sound card (and its /dev/dsp drivers). Others,
can you test this?
