Right, I hadn't been mentioning that, but I've found that where the
INSTALL file just says:
1. `cd' to the directory containing the package's source code and type
`./configure' to configure the package for your system.
when I'm using the CVS I often have to say:
aclocal
automake
./configure
I think:
The CVS configuration should be changed so that
./configure works for cvs too.
Or:
The instructions for using the CVS should include this step.
