    I'm having some problems with ecasound (MARVELOUS software btw). I
have problems with static coming through playing back wavs for some
reason. I have ALSA 0.5.7, aplay plays my wav files crystal clear, when
I play them back through ecasound, though, they come out with a little
bit of static at the beginning of the playback and when I apply various
filters.

    I'm using ALSA's OSS emulation btw (out through the /dev/dsp device)
because for some reason in the new versions -o:alsa... returns an
error... alsa format of alsa unknown or something along those lines.
I've installed the binary rpms of the latest stable release, is this the
cause for the ALSA problem? Should I rebuild the source rpms instead?
