Hi,

what version of oss are you using? You might have luck with the latest
alsa drivers.

Lame has undergone lots of changes lately, and I'd suggest getting 3.70 or
later. You should be able to edit the bitrate in the .ecasoundrc
file. Newer versions of lame want -r, newer still don't seem to need it,
I haven't enquired about that.

One possible solution to the mandolin problem would be to reencode it with
a bit of tail on it of zeros. Also if you decode it first and don't try
to use mpg123 to play it, you may avoid your looping problem.

can't help ya with ecawave, because I don't run it. I'd suspect it
probably is a simple need to write EOF on the file after removing your
dead space, but then again, that might not be desired. in fact, I'd almost
rather the approach you see here, you can simply trim off the excess junk
at the end of the file.
