ack, I now got access to a 10.8 machine and get the same error. Apparently
this specific bit is mandated in POSIX, and OS X is compliant with the
spec, but it turns out that the whole section (Timers), is optional in
POSIX, OS X can get away without supporting this. :( Oh boy, easy to
fix...
