[ecasound] Panning mono signal

Hello,
Panning a mono signal does not work as expected: 0 simply means full
volume, and then signal decreases as one tries to pan right. The only
way to make it work correctly is to use -chcopy before the panner. Now,
I could swear that is not how it used to go and ecasound used to just
"do the right thing" when asked to pan a mono signal. Am I right?
Cheers,
S.M.
