I think this is something else as 2.4.6/2.4.6.1 contain no changes to this
functionality. Also, I tried a similar command on my machine and it seems
to work ok. There could still be a bug, but I'd need more clues about what
is going on. You could also try one of the 2.5.0pre releases - the latest
one is still:

This contains a lot of bugfixes to EWF functionality.
