Hi!
This problem you described is known. I had the same thing. It's not about
64BIT processor or the ecasound-package included in your ubuntu. I mean
there's no compilation bug. It was just a bug in ecasound-2.4.5 it emerged
there in vanished in 2.4.6(.1).
