I agree very much. I haven't worked on (or made releases of) ecamegapedal
for a long time now, but would be willing to do a new release including
the desktop file, and the icon of course.
I've earlier got offers from at least Craig and Matthew for an icon to
ecamegapedal. I put Craig's at:

Matthew, if you have your icon somewhere online, you could send a link.
Would anyone be willing to submit a patch against latest ecamegapedal that
adds the desktop/icon to the tree? My desktop is running a very old
WindowMaker, so it's a bit hard to test these myself. :) But, but, I could
do a new release with the patch...
