[ecasound] ecasound/jack quandary

Hey all,
I'm trying to record using a jack setup, and I can't seem to get the
darn bitrate and samplerate going right. Without jack, I can record and
playback with ecasound at 16,2,96000. I can start jack at the same
values. However, AFTER I start jack, this is what I get when running
ecasound:

I've googled, I've fiddled, I've RTFM'd, and I'm not sure what I am
doing wrong. Any pointers would be great. If not, oh well. I know I
can do what I need to do without jack. It would just be nicer to be
able to use jack.

I'm using:
AGNULA/DeMuDi 1.2 stable
ecasound 2.4.1
jack 0.99.54
