the CVS already contains a few changes since the 2.4.4 release was tagged.
One of the bigger ones is removal of the internal readline-4.0 package
that has been distributed with Ecasound since the start.
Around the time RH5 was still in active use, I had lots of trouble with
distributions not providing suitable version of libreadline, so I decided
to include a copy of it in the dist package. Later the ability to use an
external version of the library was added, and I guess nowadays most
distributions already use this option.
Starting with 2.4.5, readline-4.0 will be droppe from the dist-package.
You can still compile Ecasound without libreadline, but you only get the
plaintext console UI ('ecasound -D -c').
