Very cool, thanks for the virmidi hint! Actually, now it even works with
the same device, i.e., virmidi seems to allow concurrent opening,
so I can launch both ecasound processes with /dev/snd/midiC2D0

That only leaves the broken loop behaviour, and mp3 support segfaulting :-)
