I tried that, but to make sure I just tried it again. Same result as
all the other variations I've tried. The result is a .wav file with
the minumum possible value, -32768, for all data in both channels.

Right. I'm not trying to make a real sound, right now. Just trying
to get the processing to work. Without success.
