For those not subcribed to la[adu], below is one very interesting
announcement. Just checkout the meterbridge web site... very nice looking
screenshots! :)

To use meterbrigde with ecasound:

1. start jackd
2. "ecasound -i foo.wav -o jack_alsa,out"
3. "./meterbridge -t dpm ecasound:out_1 ecasound:out_2"

... try also '-t vu -r -12' and '-t ppm'. To try this,
you need

- meterbridge-0.0.2
- ecasound CVS (or with any other JACK client)
- JACK CVS, http://jackit.sf.net
- SDL, http://www.libsdl.org
- SDL_image, http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_image/

Almost useful and looks kinda funky. More-or-less compliant with BS
6840-10, BS 6840-17:1991 and IEC 268-18:1995.
