A very good question! :) The main issue is allowing multiple clients to
access the same session. A process only has one stdin and one stdout.
But you could for instance run multiple 'ecasound' clients on one machine
and have only one of them run in daemon mode. Then you'd have multiple
ecasound command-lines at your use. But the communication between the
server and the non-server ecasound instances needs to solved somehow. And
this is what NetECI solves.
