Hmm, I checked a few freebsd man pages and I think the current tree
actually should compile fine. You can get somewhat quicker
compilation with the following:

ecacompiletest.sh
--cut--
cvs -z6 -d :pserver:anoncvs_AT_cvs.seul.org:/home/cvspsrv/cvsroot co -d ecasound-test sound/ecasound
cd ecasound-test
./cvscompile --enable-debug --disable-static --with-largefile
--cut--

Disabling optimizations and static libraries speeds up the compilation a
lot, although the resulting binaries are not that usable (debug versions
are _slow_).

The above script takes 6min12sec to complete on my 466Mhz dual-celeron.
