Output from following commands would be helpful:
ldd /usr/lib/ecasound-plugins/libaudioio_alsa3.so
ldd /usr/lib/libecasound.so.8.0.0
...and especially...
strace ecasound -i null -o null -t:1 2>&1 |grep -2 libaudioio_alsa
