This works at least with the recent development versions (1.9dev3 and
newer, dev5 is the latest). With the new ecasound versions, you need to
either modify your ~/.ecasoundrc...:
midi-device = rawmidi,/tmp/midi.pipe
... or add "-Md:rawmidi,/tmp/midi.pipe" to the command-line.
Some older versions of ecasound fail to use the midi-device setting, and
always try to open "/dev/midi". Also, in ecasound 1.9dev2 and older,
midi-device only has one argument. The additional "rawmidi" was added in
1.9dev3.
