Ok, it has taken nearly half a year to analyze the problem, but it seems
that some installations of ncurses (most commonly, Slackware boxes) don't
work with ecasound. Any command-lines containing a '-a:something' will
seg.fault, no matter what you do. With the latest ecasound releases you
can now get around this problem by compiling ecasound with "./configure
--disable-ncurses ; make ; make install".

If someone has succesfully upgraded his/her Slackware/or_some_other box so
that ecasound works without problems, please let me know. Anyways, this is
a very strange bug (is triggered by ecasound's use of libstdc++ functions,
who knows where the real bug is).
