Ecasound uses a two-stage approach. First it does exactly the same as
applyplugin, it checks whether num_of_plugin_inputs matches
num_of_chain_channels, and if it does, creates one plugin (this way you
can take advantage of stereo plugins, etc). If this fails and the plugin
only has one audio input (=mono), ecasound creates a separate plugin
instance for each chain channel. In other cases, you'll get an error.
