A severly hacked up slackware 2. Has gone through an ELF upgrade and a glibc2
upgrade.

I swaped from a source install, to the binary install. And I installed
ncurses 4 from source. As I only had ncurses 5 on the machine.
I'll recompile the source against ncurses 4, and see if this fixes things.
