hmm let me see if I understand this.

so the -ea family of effects in order to get what they want can introduce
antisignal in order that the volume is reduced. so a volume of 0 really
means that the signal strength equals the antisignal strength, the two cancel
eachother out. Applying more in the antisignal direction then
feeding it back to the main signal can cause the new signal to lose.

Perhaps a more constructive way of looking at it would be to digitize a
signal, then apply a predetermined pattern of noise to the signal, thereby
scrambling it. To descramble, simply apply the scrambling pattern as
antisignal, and you get the original signal

By the way, shouldn't all this signal and antisignal coming together
create a bomb?
