I'm not saying ecasound is the best app for this, but still,
it works so why not! ;)

I guess using "ecatools_play" is even better. You just put
"/usr/local/bin/ecatools_play %s" to Netscape's application
configuration. If you have all helper applications installed
(mpg123, mikmod, libaudiofile), you can use ecatools_play for
most audio formats: mp3, wav, raw, aiff, au/snd, xm, s3m, mod,
etc ... Output device is specified in your ~/.ecasoundrc
(defaults to /dev/dsp).

You can also use ecasound/qtecasound. The same syntax works. Due to
ecasound genric design, there are some problematic cases. For
instance, if you listen to mono files, you'll only hear sound on
the left channel. Ecatools_play opens the output device using
input format, so you won't encounter these problems.
